For more than four decades, the San Joaquin Clay & Glass Association has been dedicated to supporting artists, encouraging creativity, and building a thriving arts community in the Central Valley.
Our Clay & Glass Festival began as a gathering of local craftspeople and has grown into a beloved tradition where artists can share their work, connect with the community, and make a living doing what they love.
But the festival is only one part of what we do.
We believe artists need more than a place to sell their work. They need opportunities to learn, grow, connect, and build a future in the arts.
That's why we're expanding our focus—and we need our community's help.
WHO WE ARE
The San Joaquin Clay & Glass Association (SJCGA) is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit built by artists, for artists. What began 45 years ago as a small group of local craftspeople has grown into a thriving creative community and a respected force for the arts in the Central Valley. Today, SJCGA supports artists through education, exhibitions, shared resources, professional opportunities, and a community that encourages artists to keep learning, creating, and growing.
At the heart of that community is our twice-yearly Clay & Glass Festival, one of Fresno’s longest-running arts fairs. The festival brings together more than 50 SJCGA artists and draws thousands of visitors who come to discover handmade pottery, glassware, jewelry, garden art, home décor, and one-of-a-kind work directly from the artists who create it.
The festival is the public face of SJCGA and the part of our organization people know best, but what happens beyond the festival is where much of our work truly begins
THE ARTISTS WE SUPPORT
There is extraordinary creative talent in the Central Valley. Our members range from emerging artists and passionate hobbyists to working professionals and nationally and internationally recognized craftspeople. They make functional pottery, sculptural ceramics, blown and stained glass, jewelry, lighting, garden art, and so much more. Many are also small business owners, teaching, exhibiting, designing, and selling their work throughout the region.
What brings us together goes beyond the work itself. It’s a shared passion for making, learning, and helping one another grow. Our community reflects the incredible diversity of the Central Valley, with artists of different backgrounds, cultures, experiences, ages, identities, and creative perspectives.
That’s what SJCGA is here to champion: the people who make things by hand, make a living from their creativity, and choose to build their artistic lives right here in the Central Valley. Supporting SJCGA means investing in them — and in the creative future of our region.

SJCGA is creating new opportunities for clay and glass artists at every stage of their careers while rethinking what arts education can look like in the Central Valley. Building on 45 years of history, we’re helping artists develop their skills, share their knowledge, reach new audiences, and take their work to the next level. We’re looking for partners who believe in the power of a strong, inclusive arts community and want to help shape what comes next.
01 | Bringing the World to Fresno
Support us in bringing world-class clay and glass education to the Central Valley. Bring master ceramic and glass artists to Fresno for workshops, demonstrations, and week-long intensive courses. These experiences aren’t otherwise available locally, and traveling to study with artists of this caliber is often out of reach for our members.
The Central Valley already has serious talent working in clay and glass, including artists with national and international reputations. Bringing world-class instructors here gives our community the chance to learn from them directly — while putting Central Valley artists and their work in front of a wider audience.
02 | Opening Doors for Emerging Artists
We’re in the process of launching a new scholarship program for emerging artists pursuing a professional career in the arts, and we’re looking for partners to help bring it to its full potential. Funding will provide meaningful support for education, materials, mentorship, and professional opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach.
This is about giving talented young artists a real chance to say yes to their ambitions — and the resources to turn their talent into a career.
03 | Supporting Lifelong Learning
Help us give SJCGA members small grants to keep learning and investing in their craft. These grants help working artists take workshops, online courses, conferences, and local studio classes that might otherwise be out of reach. Your support helps artists strengthen their practice and keep their creative businesses moving forward.
